Guest Post - cashmerekitchen: Polished

The big news with nails this season? Nudes are in. The past few seasons have seen a focus on neon and brightly coloured nails; but the tables have finally turned with Spring focusing on pretty, wearable (and flattering) shades of cream and beige. Minimalist nails makes the biggest statement of all against the backdrop of Spring’s printed clothing and accessories. Glossy, neutral nails dominated the catwalk with Armani, Christopher Kane, The Row and Philip Lim choosing natural shades over the bold patterns and bright colours. That’s not to say that brights aren’t to be enjoyed this season (it is Spring after all)- go for classic reds, corals and mellow pastel shades mixed in with cool ombre and metallic designs.

For a prim, proper, grown up nail look try out a demure manicure...

Buff your nails and make sure they’re ready for your base coat. Base coats are so important in helping to protect your nails as well as acting like a primer to ensure your colour goes on smooth. The only basecoat I use is Life Jacket by Jessica- it protects nails that are prone to breaking.  Always apply two coats of your desired shade, I love Essie ‘Sugar Daddy’ for a sheer natural finish. Finish with a glossy topcoat, my favourite is Brilliance by Jessica which gives a high gloss shine and greatly increases drying time. If your hands need a little extra TLC, apply cuticle oil to heal and nourish.
